Who am I?
I am one of only a few credentialed ballroom instructors in the state of Idaho. I am certified and have earned a highly commended rating. What this means to you is that I have taken rigorous examinations to attain this certification. I have over 20 years of teaching experience and have earned professional medals. I have ballroom competition background in both Pro/Am and Pro/Pro, as well as serving many times as a talent judge. Because I personally believe that good instructors need to be continually learning, I have also received, and still receive coaching from some of America’S finest professional dancers. I teach all syllabi patterns that are accepted by the National Dance Council of America.
Teaching strengths:
Teaching lead / follow, frame, arm styling, communicating partnering, technique, and fine-tuning rotational patterns.
Personal preference
I teach both smooth and rhythm dances, but I personally prefer the smooth dances of: Waltz, Tango and Foxtrot.
"This has been an incredible experience for us!!! My husband started class with absolutely no
dance / music experience and had difficulty with rhythm and beats.
Lori was very patient with both of us and always encouraging. There were times when I thought that we would never be able to grasp it, but we did!! And 6 months into the program we are loving it!!! (Can't get enough.) It has brought us closer!!! We've made great friends and have a lot to look forward too! "

Private Dance Lessons.
Private lessons are the best way to learn to dance. They offer the advantage of personal attention to the individual needs to you and your partner. As a result, you will make a more rapid progress and have a deeper understanding of the material taught. We will be able to work at your personal learning pace and have the time to focus more on leading/following, timing and technique. We can also cover more thoroughly Cuban motion, arm styling, frame, partnering and presence. Due to variables in class sizes, most of these elements can not be covered in too much depth with a class.
Group Class Lessons.
While group class instruction does not offer personal attention, it does give you the chance have fun with others. You will also be given the opportunity to partner with different people which is invaluable in the building of your leading and following skills.
It is suggested that all new students start here.
Practice Events!
All students are strongly encouraged to attend practice events. Regular practice is the perfect supplemental to your lessons to avoid loosing the learned material. Practice supplementation brings you to a place where you use an acquisition of different skills to build new neuron pathways in the brain, creating muscle memory. Besides, it's a lot of fun at a minimal cost.
Competitions!
Students don't compete because they are better dancers.... They are better dancers because they are always working towards a worthy goal!
Students who compete not only progress faster but become better dancers than students who don't. The main value in competition is not in being compared with other dancers. The true value is in the improvement in your dancing that leads up to the competition and the confidence you gain. A concrete goal, brings you closer to its achievement and usually encourages you to work harder than you would without one. Contrary to what most people believe, there are competitive categories for beginners competitng along side other beginners. Most people can get these goals accomplished sooner than you might think!
